Leeching or not...?
I apologise in advance if this is in the wrong section but I wasn't really sure where to put it.
I was doing Fort Aspenwood earlier so that I could map some more of Cantha. So basically I just ran around mapping areas that I missed and then leave. Someone however, reported me for leeching. I have two questions.
Is this considered leeching? and
Does anything happen if you get reported for leeching?
Thanks.
EDIT: I just realised I got "hexed" with something called "Dishonerable." So ignore the second question, rofl.

1. Not sure what happens if you get reported for leeching.
2.) If it's not leeching it's, at the very least, a SUPER prick-like thing to do. It's selfish and childish. If you want to explore those areas, at least fight until the end of the battle. It's not that much to ask. You apparently didn't put yourself in the position of the people that are there to accomplish another aspect of the game.

They proberbly reported you as a revenge of leaving them in a mission. Sounds harsh mabye.
My suggestions:
1. You should explore on your own or in a team of Heros/Hench to avoid this and take your own time in the areas.
2. If you must go with a "Human" team, The best would be to stay to the end of the mission so everyone is happy!
There by not destroying for the Mission team. You are not on your own you know.

I got shouted at by someone when I did this as well, I don't think it's leeching it's just mapping. Ignore them

all is fair in aspenwood and quarry and the reporters need to be sending their hate to a-net for making this area needed to get carto title until it is changed then they will not have to worry about it anymore

I've never understood why these areas aren't made available as explorable, it's not really going to add any advantages or disadvantages to ppl who want to do the competition side of it because after 1 or 2 rounds you will know the area anyway!
But if you are there for carto reasons you need to either fight and hope you have time to explore after (not likely cause you get beemed back to outpost) or not fight and explore and risk being reported or hope you find a group of fellow carto's and that they are on both teams (so you dont get killed by the oposition for your very threating love of walls lol).
Would it be too hard for Anet to add an npc that asks you...."welcome to fa (or Quarry) would you like to explore the area before you enter a battle?"
Seems to me that doing that would solve some issues.

there is a thread for cartos wanting to group up for this area.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10039148
Although it is annoying that u have to get this area for the title and you cannot solo it, it is not nice to waste other ppls time.

I think all those who report and insult people who are exploring FA should just dunk their heads in a bucket of cold water and direct their complaints to Anet instead of the cartographers. Sure it can be frustrating for those who play to win, but it's not like the cartographers are doing it to purposely grief anyone and it's just a game not a matter of life or death...
Anet simply made a big mistake by ever letting these areas count for cartographer, or not adding equivalent explorable areas that can be entered with heroes and henchies. Seeing how easy it is to get into FA you don't need a special exploration unlike Jade Quarry, so most won't bother getting these groups together and just explore at will.
As far as fighting through the match and exploring at the end is concerned, I don't think that's an option. Most explorers will take running skills and some means of self-preservation instead of a fighting build, so they'd be mostly useless anyway. Also in between enemies trying to kill you at every turn, it takes a lot of time and a lot of dying to get everywhere uncovered, especially when half the points are occupied by enemy npc's. You usually need at least half the match's length of time to explore properly if not more.
Generally the most courteous thing to do is to just get in, explore and get out and leave the FA-ers to their business. I seriously don't see the point of reporting someone for a stupid design flaw on Anet's part, when at the same time there's also people entering just to grief and spam immature crap. Oh wait, those are ofcourse the people doing the reporting to make themselves feel all big and mighty...

personally I think it is just as bad as leeching, as many of the earlier posts said: you could at least help em out for the half hour duration of the mission.
taking note of what others have said: maybe some people do get pissed off a bit too much for someone leaving. but seriously CORPG does not stand for casual online role playing. the desire to win is in the definition of competitive. so seriously just do the freaking mission, you'll probably enjoy yourself anyway.
lastly if I see someone do this in game I will report them, especially because now that FA is devoid of normal leeches the game is far more fun and it is extremely frustrating when half your team leaves.

Make dedicated mapping groups. And for all the people who say you have to map this, well, you don't. There's enough leeway that you don't have to screw over someone else's game to get your 100%.

This is Anet's fault for not adding a simple NPC with the option: I would like to explore the fort aspenwood. Problem would be solved.

Instead, you wait fifty years in Jade Quarry waiting for that one person to map in. lol...
Or you can organize a sync mission in either or. Don't know how many friends you have ig, though.

tbh it probably is classed as leeching, however if Anet want this title and you need to map this place, then they should have though about that.

Can't think of everything. That is why they have Sardelac here man. Suggestions to anet... which... oddly enough... they do sometimes take into consideration. Anet is not evil man, they are a company that makes good and bad decisions. Can't bash them when they do wrong and never praise them. Anet is the reason I joined this forum. Otherwise, I would still be vomiting from motion-sickness from the latest and greatest fps being released.

i'm not saying that. what i'm saying is that if these areas have to be explored for the titles, anet and other players have to expect explorers to leave once they're done exploring. When I got my Canthan GMC title, I had to map Jade Quarry, and left once I got the last 0.2% I needed.
